http://www.egglestontrust.com/guide.html
Read the introduction to William Eggleston’s Guide on reserve at the library.  The introduction is by John Szarkowski.
Respond to the text and work by answering the following questions in your essay.  Include at least two quotes from the text.  Do not write in first person “I”:
Is every photograph about photography?
What do you think Szarkowski might mean when he speaks of “Original” photographers on page 8?
What was the problem of color photography at the time of this writing?
Are Eggleston’s images personal?  What are the qualities in the images to which you can most relate
I”d rather you work on making your Dreams come true.

Portfolio Assignment #3 : Dreams
We explored photography in the abstract in the Symbol assignment and then looked at what you can say about a person through a picture in Portraiture.  Our next project is Dreams.  Your job is to use photography in a way that continues to explore photography as an abstraction of reality, as well as an illustrative medium as we explore specific subject matter. Whether we know it or not, we all have dreams while we sleep.  Sometimes they are a place for joy and fantasy, but they can also be strange illuminations of something underneath our waking life.  A dream could be something you want for the future, a delicious meal, or the thoughts of love.  Take the idea of dreams to a place that interests you.  Challenge yourself to do something new or try an idea that may not necessarily work out perfectly.
Topics for exploration:
What techniques can you use to create a dream-like effect?  Would you try long shutter speeds, unusual lighting, or props?
Are these your dreams or someone else’s?  Are they literal dreams such as nightmares or fantasies, or are they the literal hopes you have for the future?
Dreams will be the last themed project of the term.  After this we will begin working on your final portfolio.

I’ve gone here twice recently and had no complaints.  According to Patrick Clancy, some people have received unsatisfactory product from them in the past.  If you go, please tell me what kind of experience you have.

FYI-Their business sign is so small you might not see it driving by.
